Evelyn Schmechtig-Cochran, MFT

Evelyn is the owner of Windows of Opportunity Counseling. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been practicing psychotherapy for 22 years. Her parents emmigrated from Germany and Brazil. From this background, she has inherited a great interest in culture and a lively yet down-to-earth and logical style. As well, she has a sensitive, compassionate temperament and a light-hearted yet calming presence.  Being committed to excellence, she is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy as well as the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Her specialties include trauma resolution, marital and couple therapy, and family counseling. As well, she works with individuals,couples, and families recovering from the painful affects of sexual addiction and affairs. Her heart's desire is to help people heal themselves and their most important relationships. 

Evelyn has a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin at  Eau Claire in Communicative Disorders, an M.A. in Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Counseling from the International School of Theology, and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University in southern California. She has specialized training in trauma resolution using EMDR and Life Span Integration as well as intensive training in couples therapy using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Techniques. Having been trained by Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists, she brings not only breadth but depth to her therapy.

Mihaela Benson, MFT

Mihaela is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who provides faith-base psychotherapy to individuals, couples and children. She has been practicing for eight years. Mihaela, as a young person immigrated to the US from Romania. As a result, she has a deep sense of cultural sensitivity and awareness. She is an upbeat and compassionate counselor who believes that within every situation no matter how painful there is an opportunity for growth. She treats stress-related disorders such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and out of control anger. Her passion and specialty is working with children. Mihaela is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Mihaela has and an AA from Chabot College in Hayward, CA where she majored in Early Childhood Development, a B.A. in Relationship Communications from Hayward State University in Hayward, CA, and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Her counseling experience includes three years of working for Foothill Family Services in southern California where she provided therapy for at-risk children, teens and their families helping them navigate through many life transitions and difficulties. As well, she facilitated children's groups and taught parenting classes. She has been in private practice for 5 years.
