The Female Brain by Dr. Amen
This may answer some questions we gals have about ourselves.
Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary General, once said, “There is no strategy more beneficial to society, than the ones in which women play a central role.” Women admit problems and reach out for help faster. If a couple is having trouble, nearly 8 out of 10 times it’s the woman who calls one of our 6 Amen Clinics across the US for help; or if a child is struggling in school or with his emotions, nearly 9 out of 10 times it is the mother who brings him in, even though both parents work full time. I think that the female’s ability to admit problems and get help is one of the main reasons why women typically live 7 years longer than men".
Wow! This is an interesting series. Lately, I have been wondering why do we put so many people on these drugs rather than promote life style changes such as decrease stressors and increase supports. Maybe we have had it all wrong. Worth thinking about. http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/truth-about-antidepressants-pt-1
Love: Robert Ebert
I was so sad to hear of Robert Ebert's death. My husband and I have been fans from way back when. He fought his cancer bravely. Reading his journal, it is so very clear that he could not have lived his life fully or fought the cancer without the unconditional support of his wife. I think it is so easy to go day-to-day and forget that each one of us is or has at some time been supported by at least one very devoted and loving person. Robert so beautifully reminds of this when he writes about his relationship to his wife. Of course I understand, behind closed doors there is no perfect relationship. However, there is secure attachment. This is what Robert and Chaz seemed to have. My heart goes out to Chaz as her grief must be great.
Dr. Lisa Palmer-Olsen and Dr. Sue Johnson join Drew for an in-depth discussion on Emotionally Focused Therapy and ways it can be applied to our everyday lives. The three of them then take calls on single parenting, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder.
