EFT MRI Hand Holding Study
More research on Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples. Principle investigators Dr. Sue Johnson and Dr. Jim Coan happy to share that the first brain scan study of EFT is now available in an Open Access Journal. EFT theorists explicitly claim that EFT affects a couple's ability to soothe difficult emotions by strengthening their attachment bond. I see this often as I work with couples taking them through the steps of Emotionally Focused Therapy. We now have some good evidence. Awesome.
Cambridge MRI study shows porn addicts' brain response similar to other addicts
Over the years, I have worked with couples struggling with the effects of one or both parties getting entrapped in sexual behaviors and porn usage that they could not easily stop and which ultimately hurt the relationship. Wow. Now we have brain scans that show us what is going on. Hopefully, these scans will help us help those find a way out of the entrapment. When someone uses porn compulsively, their brain has the same activity or response as someone addicted to alcohol or drugs. Get details of this study and more really good information at Yourbrainonporn.com. A Very good resource for anyone who wishes to understand how pornography usage can become a problem. The original research is included in a documentary on pornography called Porn on the Brain (Warning: Film contains some very graphic scenes), which aired September 30, 2013. This UK documentary explores children's exposure to explicit and hard-core porn on the internet. A must watch for parents. Note: It is not easy to watch.
